In the Boda upazila of Panchagarh, allegations have been made that a leader of the student wing of the ruling party’s mother was brutally murdered while praying.
The deceased, Arina Begum (45), was the wife of Abul Kalam from the same area. The incident occurred at night in the Kaliganj area of the Kajaldighi union in the upazila. The Boda police later arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and prepared a report.
The police confirmed that the body has been sent to the morgue of the Panchagarh Modern District Hospital for an autopsy. It has been reported that the family of the deceased is preparing to file a case regarding the incident.
According to local sources, Arina Begum was praying her evening prayer (Esha) in her house when assailants entered and repeatedly struck her head with a sharp weapon. Arina fell to the ground, bleeding heavily. When her husband, Abul Kalam, returned home from the local market later that night, he found his wife lying on the floor in a pool of blood. His screams alerted the locals, who rushed to the scene.
The deceased Arina Begum’s son, Wahed Zaman Amit, is the president of the Kajaldighi Kaliganj Union unit of the Chhatra League. It has been reported that after the change of government on August 5, he has not been able to stay at home due to political reasons.
Boda police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC), Azim Uddin, stated, “Upon receiving the news of the incident, I immediately went to the area. The initial report shows that the victim suffered multiple sharp and precise blows to her head. We have sent the body for an autopsy.”
